In this short film, Andrew shares his personal experience of trauma and how it has affected him and his family. He is joined by Professor Laing and Dr Punam Krishan to discuss trauma and how it can have long-lasting effects on a person’s mental health and wellbeing.

They talked about the importance of recognising and addressing trauma, as well as ways to cope and heal from it.

In this episode, Andrew speaks with James about his accident, and how it created a drive in him to inspire others. They chatted about showing kindness and compassion to those around us and urged people to speak up about mental health struggles.

Andrew speaks to Jonathan about not wanting to be seen as just a survivor or someone with physical strength, but as someone people can relate to because of his situation. Understanding each other’s experiences and emotions is the best way to de-stigmatise mental health.

Andrew entered the world of traitors and faithfuls in 2023, when he appeared on BBC’s The Traitors. As well as having an amazing time and meeting lots of inspiring people – and donning the traitor's cloak to make it to the final episode! - Andrew used this platform to raise awareness for mental health advocacy.

Andrew was extremely open about his own experience with mental health struggles, in order to show those watching that mental health is not something to be ashamed of or hidden away. Mental health affects us all - we all need to take better care of our mental wellbeing, and support those who are need of extra care in their times of need.

If one person watching The Traitors was inspired by Andrew’s openness and honesty, he is honoured to have made a difference in someone’s life!
